Located just 5 minutes away from the St. Thomas Cyril E. King Airport in the Crown Bay Expo Center, Island Flavor Restaurant should be your first stop in St. Thomas for lunch. There is so much to love about Island Flavor. First off, the cuisine is authentic Caribbean and what else could you want for your first meal on an island? Chef John also offers two different flavors of johnny cakes which is a baked take on a Virgin Island’s specialty. Make sure you try both the plain and the garlic johnny cakes to cap off your delicious meal.
The food is already prepared so no need to wait. Just show up and select from the line-up of foods in front of you. As a busy mom, Island Flavor saves me so much time and the kids LOVE the food. It’s flavorful and if you like saucy, just ask for an extra drizzle of something.
If you have a sweet tooth like me, there are always amazing desserts to feed that sugar addiction. Chef John offers various options on a daily basis so it’s best to check Island Flavors Facebook Page to get a video walkthrough of what they are serving that day. Just go and tell them I sent you. Trust me, Island Flavor never disappoints! Here are a few of our family favorites:
Pineapple Pork Chops
Sweet and savory pork chops with a full pineapple flavor. This is one where you ask for extra sauce to make sure you have enough for every bite. The pork is well seasoned and I’m pretty sure I found myself humming while I was eating it!

Tropical Chicken Wings
These chicken wings look unassuming but pack so much punch. They are sweet and a tiny bit spicy but not the kind that burns your mouth. My kids LOVE these but so do many adults I know. For those of you afraid to take chances, this will make you a Chef John believer and you’ll be back to take more risks.

Sweet & Sour Salmon
Can you tell we like sweet stuff in our family? This salmon is off the charts amazing. Cooked to perfection and full of flavor. My husband recently became a pescatarian and if he could eat this every day, he would.
