5 FOCUS AREAS TO LIVE A HAPPY, FULFILLED LIFE

September 3, 2020 · In: Prioritize

Today is my last day as a full-time employee and while I am a super nervous about what’s in store for me next, I am also quite excited about this next chapter in my life. I am the kind of person that dreams for others but this year, specifically has taught me that it’s okay to dream for yourself. It’s actually recommended. If you are full of life, you can then have the energy and the motivation to breathe life into others.

So what’s next, you ask? This blog definitely. I have had so much fun creating and building something for myself. It’s a way for me to capture my thoughts and document my journey for my children and hopefully, grandchildren to read someday. Here is what I’m going to focus on. Some are intuitive to me and others are going to be a challenge:

  1. Encourage, motivate and lift others up. I’m guessing someone helped you get where you are today. Let’s be that for someone else. The impact of pouring into one other person can impact not only them but future generations of their family and others within their circle.
  2. Do the hard work. If you took the lid off yourself, do you even know what you could accomplish? It’s amazing how hard we can work for others but when it comes to ourselves, we expect success to be easy. Please know that your dreams will take sweat equity but if you aren’t willing to invest in yourself, why should anyone else?
  3. Take risks. Let’s change the perception that failing is shameful. Every hard lesson I have ever learned has helped me tremendously in the next chapter of my life. Don’t be afraid of what others think. Just Go for it! Remember there’s no failure just feedback.
  4. Focus on empathy. Trying to understand other people’s perceptions and feelings is so important right now. The world has gone mad because everyone only understands their own point of view. We can all do better with this one.
  5. Be YOU. Can’t say this one enough. No one else can be you so don’t let there be a vacancy in that department.

In the spirit of being authentic, I will share that I am scared out of my mind. I am not yet confident as I have never done this before and I am 100% putting myself out there. Fearless does not mean you aren’t worried or afraid. It simply means that you won’t let fear stop you from acting. So pick one thing you have been putting off due to fear and let’s attack it together. I really hope you’ll join me. If you want to go to one more step, create some accountability for yourself and put in the comments what you are going to tackle. No better time than today!

I’m loving it! Truly inspirational Melissa! As one of my favorite poet, says,

” Love Life! Engage on it. Give it all you’ve got. Love it with passion because life truly does give back many times over, what you put into it” Maya Angelou,

    God Bless

Marlene. Thank you so much. Yes. It is so true but so hard to implement. Maya Angelou was so wise. I hope to inspire younger generations to start earlier than us to truly go after their dreams!

This is the hug I needed. I’m taking your advice and am getting back on the entrepreneurial saddle. Fear has a funny way of making excuses sound real. You are inspiration!!! This is just the beginning of what I know will be triumphant for you!
